(AN UPDATE) It's a washout Fast Friday practice has been cancelled. They will have the qualifying order draw later in the day, but be prepared for a shocker, it won't be like any draw we have ever seen before. Yes there will be a draw for both cars for every driver and team that has two, put they won't be able to run both without an engine change. While there will be the option of pulling either the "T" or primary car out of line (in principal) and moving it to the back, to actually do that will be impossible. To physically do that a car would have to have passed initial tech, and without an engine, or with an engine spacer, that can't happen.

Dennis says 100 of these trucks won't get the track dry today.

Last year it was so much about making the mirrors bigger to gain some aero advantage that after Nashville, where AGR had an almost perfect copy of the Panther Racing mirrors, IndyCar had to make a Mirror spec. Yesterday MTP, who actually started the mirror stuff at Indy last year, brought out a set of very small mirrors. My guess is that in this all-equal Indy 500, you will need to eliminate as much drag as possible. I'm thinking that the most slick car out with these equal engines will run the best race speed and perhaps win the race. Teams will try to compensate with less wing angles and wickers, but those that screw that up will find their cars running slower or crashing.

This is one of my shots of the Penske mirrors from last year at Indy

This used to be known as the "Main Gate," this year it has become the "Rain Gate," But you can no longer blame it on me, I left. You know that you are a true IndyCar addict when you can spell Terre Haute every May without looking it up or using the spell checker.

Once they do start to practice  I'll update  the results here, along with posting any new pictures from Dennis Sylvia at the track. In the meantime, I'll post a few more of Dennis' car photos.
