I guess the worst kept secret regarding the
90th running of the Indy 500 was that the Chevy Corvette would again pace
the race. We've known that for a couple of months, but what we didn't know
was how beautiful the car is.

Here's another view taken as part of the
Rahal Letterman Racing introduction of Jeff Simmons as the new driver for
the Ethanol sponsored #17. Simmons told me that although he has run the
Speedway in a Mo Nunn Dallara, and run one race for Patrick Racing in
another Dallara, tomorrow's practice will be his first in a Panoz car.

I was able to ask Buddy Rice about his road
racing and how physically demanding racing at St Pete was, and he
surprised me in saying "it's nothing compared to Sears Point and
Watkins Glen and how they wear you out and beat you up."
