"I have no
idea if it is genuine or a replica someone decided to make out
of a spare Essex...I shot her at a car show in Dunedin (New
Zealand) a couple of years ago."

The rushed and
somewhat out of focus picture above (they don't like you taking
pictures of the engines) on the right is a same-side view of the
2005 version of the injector cover/plenum as compared with the
2004 3-liter version above it.
The other picture
above and on the left is a 2004 3-liter version, and relates
to the two left side shots two and three pictures above it.

Here is the
entire 2005 3-liter Chevy IndyCar engine either on its way in or
out of the Tomas Scheckter car at HMS. I suspect it was the
engine/car to be used for the oval track portion of the test. Note
how small and compact the clutch "package" is in the
lower right corner of the picture, amazing that it can harness
over 600 horsepower and hook it to the ground through a combined
30 inch wide Firestone tire contact patch. The cam cover appears
to be almost identical to the one shown on the small picture above
left, indicating that if there are new cylinder heads, they are at
least same-size.
